Agroemprendedor: «No existe una profesión con mayor satisfacción que producir alimentos”

Rafael Corobo renació con los cultivos de sus invernaderos. Desde Quíbor, en el estado Lara,  este productor contó su Pasión por el Campo a Vida Agro.

El campo ha rejuvenecido el ímpetu y el espíritu de Rafael Corobo. A sus 60 años, este productor larense no para de soñar y hacer realidad sus proyectos agrícolas en las tierras heredadas de su abuela María de la «O», en Quíbor, ubicado al occidente de Venezuela.
En sus casas de cultivo o invernaderos, Corobo ha sembrado y cosechado tomate, pimentón y jalapeños, este último difícil de cultivar en zonas semi áridas. A cielo abierto también produce ají dulce, limón, lechosa, auyama, remolacha, batata, cebollín, cilantro, melón, higos y guanábana.
«Soy adicto a la estadística, y hemos comprobado que en casas de cultivos o invernaderos puedes alcanzar excelentes niveles de producción si sabes la variedad acorde con el clima y que sea resistente a virus y plagas», contó emocionado Corobo a Vida Agro.
 
Los rendimientos lo motivan a seguir cultivando. «Por ejemplo, la media para pimentón es de 1,23%, y hemos alcanzado 1,74 %. En tomate hemos llegando a 8 kilos por planta, para una media de 6 kilos».
Corobo se levanta a las 5:20 de la madrugada, y su esposa a las 4:00 AM. Ella es quien los equipa con desayuno y merienda para él  y su hijo Rafael Eduardo Corobo, de 24 años, quien lo acompaña en este agroemprendimiento.
Salen de su casa, en Barquisimeto, a las 6:00 AM y les toma 30 minutos llegar a los terrenos de cultivo en Quíbor. Allí comienzan las actividades, junto a un grupo comprometido de trabajadores. La jornada diaria culmina a las 2:00 de la tarde, para luego regresar a la capital larense. 

 

«Cultivar en invernaderos ha resultado una muy buena experiencia, el poder controlar todo dentro de estas casas de cultivos es un constante aprendizaje, pero principalmente por el control de obtienes sobre plagas y el clima, las lluvias y el inclemente sol. Se pueden controlar variables que a cielo abierto sería muy complicado», afirma quien trabajó 36 años en una empresa transnacional.

«El campo es el sitio donde mis antepasados lograron levantar familias, nos brindó sustento, dinero para nuestra educación, el campo es y será el sitio donde mi abuela Maria de la «O» sembraba y cosechaba nuestros alimentos, y así será por muchas años más», reflexiona.

No duda en afirmar que su hijo, su mano derecha, es una inspiración en el proyecto agrícola. «Creo que Rafael Eduardo nació con ese gen de querer trabajar el campo, cosa que agradezco a Dios”.

Rafael Corobo comparte frecuentemente con su equipo de trabajo en la finca.

Ante la interrogante de ¿cuál es el principal desafío que viven los productores venezolanos en estos momentos tan duros que vive el país?, Corobo puntualiza: «Yo diría que el principal desafío es la desidia, lidiar con la gente que no quiere trabajar ni en el campo, ni en ningún otro trabajo; aunque muchos dirían que son los insumos agrícolas. Por eso nuestro ambiente laboral tratamos que sea agradable».

El ingenio de este larense en el campo lo ayuda a diario a luchar contra el aumento de los insumos y agroquímicos.  «La verdad que esto es cuesta arriba, el hecho de tener que comprar productos a ‘bachaqueros’ incrementa en desmedida el costo final del producto, el otro problema es la poca disponibilidad de insumos en el mercado local. Por eso hemos ido introduciendo productos naturales, ahorita  estamos fabricando un criadero de lombriz californiana para el uso del humos líquido y sólido».

Para alejar las plagas de sus siembras se arriesgó  a inventar un repelente natural, haciendo una preparación  con picantes jalapeños, cebolla, ajo y pimienta cayena. «Esto se macera por 48 horas, luego se disuelve en 500 gramos de jabón azul, y esa solución se usa en un 10% de agua. Si no hay pimienta le ponemos  una planta aromática como romero o albahaca», recomienda. 

Este productor se ha convertido en un Agricultor 2.0 En la red social Instagram se identifica como @rafaelcorobo y publica frecuentemente imágenes de los avances de sus cultivos, las cosechas, comparte experiencias, resalta el valor de la gente que lo apoya en los huertos e interactua con sus seguidores. 

La fórmula de su éxito en la agricultura la resume así: «Pasión por lo que hacemos, amar el trabajo, enfoque en el resultado final, celebrar los éxitos y aprender del día a día. Copiar las cosas buenas que hacen los demás, y sobre todo compartir lo que aprendemos».

Corobo se atreve a darle un consejo a los  jóvenes  agroemprendedores. «Amar el trabajo del campo, no existe una profesión con mayor satisfacción que producir alimentos”.
